Avoiding Money Talk on Discovery Calls
This simple omission has costed my hundreds of hours preparing proposals that were far out of the budget. There was one simple (and false) assumption I made that caused me to avoid the budget conversation: talking money is too sales-y.
Providing a service means sales will always be core part of your business. But beyond that, opening up the conversation around budget ensures neither your time or the client’s time is wasted.
You know what’s more awkward than asking a potential client for their budget? Sending a proposal 1–2 days later that’s incredibly detailed but completely out of their range.
